Light Catches Diamonds (4:18min)
Light Catches Diamonds- DSL or Cable
Light Catches Diamonds- Dial-up
While I simply cannot record this again, won't tell you the story though you can surely guess, and I dearly hope the volume is high enough (I'm using Audacity on a PC rather than SoundStudio on my old iMac), it is a plain and slower reading, no echoes, promise!
The text for Light Catches Diamonds may be found at my art website.
Thank you, Sky, ydurp, vexations, Ashes_2_Ashes_Words_2_Words, and Richard Geer for your much appreciated feedback. xo

People have asked if you are supposed to pay for the recording. While I surely appreciate it if you do, no, you don't have to pay for it. You can listen to any of my recordings at SoundClick anytime (streaming is free). I switched from free download to paid because Paintings in the Sand was downloaded about 1500 times and, well, you understand...

i am glad you chose to record it without the echo. this is much better to my ear! thanks, brenda. this was lovely and without the distracting sounds of urban life! i imagine you contended with those during your efforts to record, however!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sky. Compared to the ones that hit the recycle bin, this recording is muted, understated, quiet. It's a bit too slow for me personally, but I do take note that various friends said it was a densely written piece that needed slower pacing. What I'm really working towards is a video of it as a simple performance piece - just me & the video camera - though I don't know when that'll be.
ReplyDeleteThe sounds of the city aren't terribly unlike the sounds of the jungle - in fact, at night at least, they're quieter!

You see, I find this perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat I hear is the inflections of sound and the landscape of the words and what I perceived as a comfort and confidence in the reading. It took me back a long way to hear Poetry being orated so well.
I imagined a window and a slight billowing of sheers as I listened, and then my mind became absorbed into the words and the reading of them.
Blessings in the sharing of this. I listened last night through Xangadoon.
Peace and Light~
